SIX CERTIFICATIONS. ONE SYSTEM.
ESS Pistol and ESS Rifle are separate qualifications. Each discipline and level has a clearly defined assessment framework.
OBJECTIVE.
MEASURABLE.
INDEPENDENT.
ESS is designed to measure performance against a defined benchmark. The same test. The same scoring logic. Real results.
VIEW THE STANDARDS →NO COACHING. NO COURSE-COMPLETION POINTS. JUST PERFORMANCE.
The shooter completes a defined Course of Fire under the published time, accuracy and procedural rules. The assessment is separate from normal coaching and training.
KNOW EXACTLY
WHAT IS EXPECTED.
ESS does not try to surprise the shooter. Candidates are encouraged to understand the required standard and train specifically to achieve it.
ONE PAGE. SIX STANDARDS.

Advanced assessment adding Failure to Fire clearance, movement, shooting on the move, turn-and-draw work and dominant-hand-only shooting.
ADD TO AN ELIGIBLE COURSE →Uses the current BZ Academy Pistol Instructor Shooting Standard. At present, this shooting test remains part of the BZ Academy Pistol Instructor Course. Passing it confirms shooting performance only; it does not confer instructor status.
VIEW PISTOL INSTRUCTOR COURSE →Recommended preparation: Combined Firearms Course Level 1 or equivalent.
Foundation rifle benchmark built around safe handling, ready positions, standing / kneeling work, controlled fire and emergency reloads. Final v1.0 protocol is still to be approved.

Advanced rifle benchmark adding malfunction clearance, movement, shoulder work and more demanding timed handling. Final v1.0 protocol is still to be approved.

VIEW RIFLE INSTRUCTOR COURSE →80% MINIMUM SHOOTING SCORE
Current ESS Pistol draft standards use a 25-round scored assessment. Passing requires at least 20 of 25 required hits plus successful completion of every stage within its procedural and time requirements.
DISCIPLINE
CREATES RESULTS.
Each candidate is assigned an individual target and must engage only that target throughout the assessment.
PASS THE TEST.
EARN THE CERTIFICATE.
Successful candidates receive an official European Shooting Standards certificate showing the shooter name, weapon discipline, ESS level, assessment date, standard version and unique certificate number.
- Official ESS certificate
- Unique certificate number
- Version-linked assessment record
- Designed for future QR verification
