Eligibility & Documentation
Who can participate in BZ Academy courses?
BZ Academy courses are open to international participants who meet the entry requirements for the selected programme.
Participants must normally be at least 18 years old, understand spoken and written English, be medically fit for the training and have a clean criminal background.
We welcome civilians, sport shooters, security professionals, police officers and military personnel. Some advanced courses have additional prerequisites.
Do I need a firearms licence to attend?
You do not normally need to hold your own firearms licence to participate using firearms supplied and supervised by BZ Academy.
You must still meet all personal eligibility, identification, safety and background-check requirements.
What documents must I provide?
The registration process may require:
- A copy of a valid passport or national photo ID.
- A clean criminal-record document or approved self-declaration.
- A health and medical self-declaration.
- Flight or train details where transport is included.
- Evidence of prerequisite training for an advanced course.
Criminal-record documentation should be current and normally no more than six months old.
Can I use a self-declaration instead of a criminal-record certificate?
An approved clean-criminal-record self-declaration may be accepted.
In that case BZ Academy carries out an internal background check. The established administrative fee for this service is £30.
What level of English is required?
International courses are conducted in English. You must be able to understand range commands, safety briefings, demonstrations and instructor corrections without continuous translation.
Is travel or medical insurance required?
Participants should have appropriate travel and medical insurance valid in Poland.
EU and eligible UK travellers should also consider carrying a valid EHIC or GHIC, where applicable. Insurance remains the participant’s responsibility.
Can BZ Academy provide a visa invitation letter?
Where appropriate, BZ Academy may provide a course invitation letter after the participant has supplied the required information and paid the full course fee in advance.
Visa approval is controlled by the relevant authorities and cannot be guaranteed by BZ Academy.
Training & Courses
Do I need previous firearms experience?
Not for open-entry courses such as Combined Firearms Course Level 1, Practical Pistol, Tactical Pistol, Tactical Rifle and selected private-training programmes.
Intermediate and advanced courses may require completion of an earlier BZ Academy course or equivalent documented training.

It is a three-day, beginner-friendly programme covering Glock pistol, AR-15 and AK-47.
What is the difference between CFC Level 1 and CFC Level 2?
CFC Level 1 develops safe fundamentals and introduces Glock, AR-15 and AK-47 platforms.
CFC Level 2 is an intermediate progression for CFC Level 1 graduates. It develops more demanding pistol-and-rifle handling, movement, transitions, shoulder changes, recovery to the primary weapon and team-based drills.
What firearms are used during BZ Academy courses?
The platform depends on the selected programme.
- Glock 17, Glock 19 and Glock 19X pistols.

This may be possible after prior written approval from BZ Academy and after all relevant ownership, transport and firearms documentation has been checked.
If you are travelling within Europe with your own firearm, you must hold a valid European Firearms Pass.
Contact BZ Academy before travelling. We can issue an appropriate invitation letter confirming your participation in the training.
You remain responsible for complying with the legal requirements of every country through which you travel.

What happens if BZ Academy cancels or postpones a course?
Approximately 99% of scheduled BZ Academy courses take place as planned.
In exceptional cases, a course may need to be postponed or cancelled because there are not enough registered participants to conduct the programme safely and effectively.
This can occur where only one or two participants have registered, or where a specialist programme requires a larger minimum group.
For example, selected Close Protection training may require at least six participants so that complete formations can be practised, including a VIP with a five-person protection team.
If BZ Academy cancels the course, the participant may choose between:
- transferring the paid deposit to the next suitable course date in the calendar, or
- receiving a refund of the paid course deposit.
What should I do if I have an injury or medical condition?
Inform BZ Academy before booking or as soon as the condition becomes known.
Do not conceal a condition that may affect movement, concentration, hearing, vision or safe firearms handling.
